About
The YMCA Model United Nations (MUN) program is designed to introduce students to the operation and structure of the United Nations while providing them with an opportunity to actively learn about world cultures and debate issues of international importance. Students will actively participate in conflict resolution, public speaking, and coalition building, in addition to making new friends and being exposed to new ideas. The program promotes leadership through character development, while introducing students to a vast array of ideas.
As part of the MUN conference, students also have the opportunity to simulate the press functions during the main conference weekend. The press is an integral tool in the function of all national and international organizations. Press, both print and broadcast, are crucial to the development of policy and resolutions. It connects people to the organizations that represent them and connects organizations to the people.
The members of the Written Press produce and distribute print publications throughout the conference weekend as a resource for MUN delegates. Press students also maintain the MUN blog and Twitter accounts by posting Committee updates, candidate and keynote speaker interviews, and photos from the Video Press.
The content of this blog is produced and published by the student delegates of the MUN written press.
